The sixth annual Taste of Tioga will be held at the Owego Treadway Inn, 1100 State Route 17C, Owego, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2007.

The Taste of Tioga is held as a "celebration of Tioga County's foods, farms and chefs" and as a fundraiser for CCE Tioga. For $15, you get five samples out of a selection of over 12 dishes created by top Tioga County chefs with food grown and raised on Tioga County soils.

This year, the wine will be from the Six Mile Creek Vineyard, just a few miles past the Tioga County border on Route 79 heading into Ithaca. For $3.00, you can sample four of the eight wines they will have at the event.

The entertainment this year will be provided by Mark and Laura Orshaw who play Celtic, bluegrass and old time fiddle music.

At age 10, Laura learned to play mandolin and guitar from paternal grandmother and regional oldtime musician, Betty Orshaw. By age 13, she had recorded the highly acclaimed fiddle project, The Grizzly Bear Chair, and in 2005 released, Grandad’s Flying Squirrels, a compilation of Southern Old-time, Bluegrass, Celtic fiddle tunes and vocals.

Currently, Laura performs regularly in a duo with her father, Mark. She also fiddles with premier Northeastern bluegrass band, The Lonesome Road Ramblers.
